Here are 10 common error codes and solutions for the Brother Innov-is A16 sewing machine:

Cause: You pressed a button with the presser foot raised.
Solution: Lower the presser foot lever before you continue.
E2
Cause: You selected a regular stitch with the buttonhole lever down.
Solution: Raise the buttonhole lever before starting the operation.
E3
Cause: You selected a buttonhole stitch with the buttonhole lever up.
Solution: Lower the buttonhole lever before starting the operation.
E4
Cause: The reverse button was pressed when the bobbin winder shaft was right.
Solution: Move the bobbin winder shaft to the left.
E5
Cause: The Start/Stop button was pressed while the foot controller is connected.
Solution: Disconnect the foot controller and use Start/Stop, or use the foot controller.
E6
Cause: The motor has locked up because thread became tangled.
Solution: Stop sewing and carefully remove the tangled thread.
E9
Cause: The needle plate cover was removed while the machine was on.
Solution: Turn off the machine, then securely attach the needle plate cover.
F* (F followed by a number)( requires technical expertise)
Cause: The sewing machine may be malfunctioning internally.
Solution: Contact a Brother authorised service center for repairs.

Cause: The main motor rotation has failed.
Solution: Unplug the machine and check the wiring connections.
F2
Cause: A button like reverse or Start/Stop is physically stuck.
Solution: Try to release the stuck button.
