The Schmetz Jersey Needles are specially designed for sewing knitted and stretch fabrics with smooth, snag-free stitching performance. Featuring a medium ball point tip, these needles gently separate fabric fibers instead of piercing them, helping prevent skipped stitches, fabric damage, and thread breakage.

Commonly known as Ball Point Needles, Schmetz Jersey Needles are ideal for jersey fabrics, knitwear, stretch materials, and elastic fabrics used in garment making and everyday sewing projects.

Always choose the smallest needle size possible if the fabric can be sewn smoothly without difficulty.

Consider increasing the needle size under these conditions:

  1. When using thicker thread sizes
  2. When fabric elasticity increases
  3. When sewing thicker materials

A sewing machine needle can last anywhere from one minute to one month, depending on usage, sewing speed, fabric type, and operator handling.

For best sewing performance, it is recommended to:

  • Insert a new needle at the start of every project
  • Replace the needle after approximately 8 hours of sewing
  • Change the needle immediately if it becomes bent, dull, or damaged

Using worn or damaged needles may result in:

  • Broken or shredded thread
  • Skipped stitches
  • Fabric damage
  • Uneven stitching
