The Throat Plate Asm (Part Number: A11153340A0) is a genuine Juki needle plate designed specifically for portable serger/overlock machines. It serves as the smooth metal surface that supports fabric and houses the needle entry points.

Description and Compatibility

This 4-thread needle plate is compatible with various Juki and Bernette models, including:
  • Juki MO Series: MO-634, MO-634D/DE, MO-644D, MO-654D, and MO-654DE.
  • Bernette Models: 004, 004D, 006D, 007D, 334, 334D, 700D, 800D, and 800DL.

Failure Instances

The throat plate can fail due to mechanical stress or poor maintenance:
  • Needle Strikes: Repeated impacts from bent or misaligned needles create small burrs or nicks that snag and break thread.
  • Physical Warping: Heavy use on dense fabrics like denim can cause the plate to bow or collapse.
  • Lint Buildup: Accumulation of debris under the plate can interfere with the feed dogs, leading to uneven stitching or feeding issues.
  • Wear: Over time, the needle hole may become enlarged, causing thin fabrics to be "sucked" into the machine.

Replacement Procedure

  1. Power Off: Turn off and unplug the machine for safety.
  2. Clear Workspace: Remove the presser foot and needle to provide unobstructed access.
  3. Unscrew: Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the plate to the machine.
  4. Remove: Lift the old plate assembly out, ensuring you do not lose any small sub-parts or springs.
  5. Clean: Brush away lint from the feed dog area before installing the new part.
  6. Install: Align the new A11153340A0 plate with the screw holes and indents on the machine bed.
  7. Secure: Replace and tighten the two original screws, then manually rotate the handwheel to ensure the needle clears the new plate before sewing.
